Director's Notes
Richard Evans
I was watching Lew Carlino's "Telemachus Clay" when Cynthia Campbell appeared on stage.
I took one look and, within days, I cast Cynthia as Dorothy in Elaine May's HOTLINE. The play went along beautifully and I found myself writing notes for a screenplay to showcase Cynthia's talents. I'd worked with Dave Draper, Ken Church, and most of the rest of the cast before, and we were looking for a new project. Our Associate Producer, Fredde Butterworth, asked Bill Ruth to shoot a screen test of Cyn. From that day on, everyone who saw the test was convinced we were working with one of the best kept secrets in the history of movies. Three years later, we have "Shadow of Rain" - a film we're all very proud of. We hope it lends further credence to the idea that you don't need a huge budget and big names to make a good movie. If you have something worth saying and a dedicated cast and crew, it will happen. No small part of the joy we had shooting "Shadow of Rain" came from the fact that we all live in an artistic community on one of the most beautiful islands in the Northwest.
We're submitting the film now to selected festivals, along with some
good comments from preview screenings ...

images...awesome!"
